Spring flowers and Royal Wedding Fireworks

The church garden is coming into its own and beginning to look very pretty. I particularly like the crown imperial. Liz Bearman's memorial tree was nearly in flower last Friday night. By Tuesday night it was in full bloom.

An interesting note; the pink wall at the back has to be painted each year on orders of the Mayor. If we fail to do so we could incur a fine. All over the city signs of winter are being cleared up and all sorts of things are being painted before Victory Day on Monday. There is no finesse about this - the highly smelly paint is slapped straight on - no washing down, rubbing down or preparation of any kind. The holes in our walll were roughly filled before painting. Then that's it until next year.

That wedding - so what did you think of the dress? Gorgous! I had bunting up in my class and it was put around the railings at church. We managed to watch it at school as well as having our own 'wedding' in assembly. Fr Simon decided to have a concert at church followed by champagne and fireworks. As we were going away early the next day we thought about not going, but we did and here are the fireworks!! Yes I know it is full daylight but that's how it's done here. If it's not dark, tough!!

And so ended a memorable day!!!

The next day saw us up bright and early to catch the metro to the American embassy North Gate and our weekend trip around the Golden Ring. For that story you will have to wait while I sort out the photos. They are coming - I promise.
