Beyond the Arbat is some stunning examples of Stalinist architecture. Apparently he liked the art deco style he saw in New York and copied it with his own twist. The big building is one of the Seven Sisters, seven buildings Stalin specially commissioned. This is the Ministry of Foreign Affaires. It is flanked by two buildings from the 1950s which have a distinct style of their own.
The three other photos are of the Metro. The architecture of some of the Metro stations is amazing. These are at Arbatskaya station. The mosaic is from the entrance hall and the wall carving near the platforms.
