How could I have forgotten. You will remember the photo of the little wooden church near here. This evening I finally got inside and what a gem. It is not appropriate to take photos as it is obviously a treasured house of prayer. A lady was at the back selling candles, while several others were praying in front of icons and pictures. People obviously go in and out at all times of the day. I saw the priest blessing a new car the other day.
The wooden theme continues inside, but all the walls are covered in pictures, all of which are very elaborate. There are no chairs or altar, but a simple lecturn with a holy book. There are candle holders in various places and the pray-ers go from one to the next, lighting candles and praying to their favourite saint. With no light except from the candles it is quite dark inside.
Behind the church is a hall of some sort, and photos on the wall outside indicate a lively and thriving community.
