Peter has arrived. I had a 6 hour round trip to the airport and back to meet him. Having the day off school made life easier. Yesterday we stayed local and then headed into the city with colleagues from Schools 1,2 and 4. Tracey had booked to go to a small restaurant with live music. We had a super evening. The music was good, as was the food (and yes I did have more to drink than usual).
We overslept a bit this morning, but headed off to Red Square late morning. It is horribly damp and grey here. It's been like it for weeks and is really depressing. We treated ourselves to lunch in Gum and then walked along the river to the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The original was destroyed in the thirties but it has been rebuilt in the nineties and is beautiful. No cameras are allowed inside but Ihave taken some of the outside which I'll upload during the week.
Along the river we saw a strange statue which I want to investigate. Again photos later in the week. We came home in the gloom, collecting a cooked chicken on the way.
Back to school tomorrow following our unexpected break. Nadine sounded better when I spoke to her on Friday so I hope she is back. 5 weeks to the end of term.
