Ice sculptures and black ice

After the early thaw the temperature has gone back to normal and it is cold. Snow has fallen most days, not heavily, but persistantly. It does mean that the black ice is covered for a few days. Peter has bought us both some crampons - not climbing ones but for walking in tricky places and they are coming out tomorrow, having slipped several times in the last few days walking home from school. I am regularly walking home across the ice now, which is so nice. To start with it is so quiet.

Yes Peter is back, having demolished Philippa's flat, and walked straight back to work. He also bought another cold with him, which he gave to me!!!

I have not been out far recently but someone at church told me about some new ice sculptures outside St Basil's so I went and had a look after church on Sunday. Peter took these pictures for me on Monday as I had left my camera at home. Sadly some have coins stuck on them, they all have snow on them so it is not always easy to see what they are but here are the best.

They are beautiful even though they are several weeks old. I wanted to brush the snow off but felt I couldn't.

For those who are concerned I don't know anyone who was caught up in the bomb at Domodedovo airport on Monday. We are all safe and, as usual, life has got back to normal very quickly.

Peter is camping with the American scouts on Friday so I hope he has some good photos for next time.
