It has been a very strange week as we have had no children since Monday. The Government decided to close all primary schools as there has been a spate of flu. Though my class was not badly hit, some were down to 50% or less so it gives everyone a chance to get better. The staff have all been in so we have completly reorganised the library and cleared out both the maths and art cupboards. The library is nearly finished but just a few things to sort out.
Yesterday Peter and I went to an amusing exhibition of work from a children's comic. Even though we couldn't read the Russian the jokes were so clever. I wanted to buy some prints but sadly none were available. An animated film had been made in the past and this was being shown. There was a little chap, 3 or 4, who sat entranced by it. His eyes were big and he had the biggest grin. It was lovely to see.
With the warmer weather there have been icicles forming everywhere. I saw this ice sheet on a building near the lake.
It is huge. Most big icicles are knocked off before they do any damage.
On the same walk home I found the ducks enjoying this small patch of water. I don't think it has closed completely as there is a flow into the lake. Some evenings they fly over me on their way to their sleeping places.
Children are back on school tomorrow and it is book week so that should be fun.
No more news for this week, but an amusing story from Peter. (apologies to Mum and Philippa who have heard it).One of Peter's students spent Christmas in Paris where they had snow like the UK. As the snow started to melt it went down 'those holes at the side of the road'. She was enthusing about drains!!!! There are very few of those here.
