Late this week. Peter left on Saturday. It's strange being on my own again. Very busy at school as we have the inspection on Wednesday. Nearly ready. Just more tidying up to do. A new boy started today. That's the second in three weeks.
Peter and I were highly entertained on Saturday morning. 'They' decided to clear the ice from outside our flats. All the cars had been asked to move by 9am in the morning. Several were moved late Friday night - after much scraping and digging. Those that had not been moved were moved by a hoist lorry to the other side of the carriageway. Then the snow machine moved in. It went backwards and forwards with a sharp spike to break the ice. Then it was ploughed to the middle of the road - several times before finally being collected by a machine with paddles and a conveyor belt. At each stage there was a great deal of standing around discussing what to do. It took 4 hours to clear 100 metres!!!
I am now a member of St Andrew's church council. I wait to see what it involves - fund raising of some kind I am sure. First meeting is a week today.
It has turned cold again and snowed for a time today, but the evenings are light - the street lights didn't come on until 7 tonight.
Home a fortnight today!! Hooray!!!
Oh yes - Anna's surprise gift was a beautiful tradtional Russian shawl. At the moment it is artistically draped over the sofa. And the rose from Andy and Stuart lasted until yesterday.
